This toolkit is designed to help other libraries start their own true storytelling programs. It includes outlines, templates, resources and other information and advice.

The toolkit is divided into three optional parts for libraries to choose from. You can launch Part 1 and then add Part 2, and later down the road, add Part 3; or you could launch all three parts in one fell swoop. The a la carte style is designed to reach the maximum number of libraries– it has something to offer the smallest library with a small budget to the largest.

Starting a true storytelling program at your library will bring together individuals from varied backgrounds and with different interests to find common ground through shared experiences, thus building a greater sense of community, and changing the community’s perception of what a library is and what it can be and do.
