Reading Resources

In addition to our fantastic reading lists, check out the following:

logoOBOMOne Book One Marin – Our annual Marin County-wide book club program. Each year, a committee comprised of Marin County and City Libraries, Dominican University, and Book Passage Bookstore selects one book by a SF Bay Area author and encourages people throughout the county to read and discuss the chosen book. From February through April or May, our public libraries organize events, readings, and book club meetings around the book. The goal of One Book One Marin is to build a stronger, enriched community through library utilization, community dialogue, and the exploration of literature and culture.

Databases:

BookbrowselogoBookbrowse- a constantly updated database run by a group of (paid) dedicated readers who select their favorite new books to review and share. In addition to reviews, check out their “book finder” tab, read author interviews, find reading group guides, and view suggested book club titles.

Click here to access from home.

logoNOVELISTLgNovelist- maintained by librarians across the country, this database offers  book reviews, read-alike suggestions, reading guides, and author profiles. Novelist is less selective and subjective than Bookbrowse; it’s also been around longer. However, Novelist only reviews fiction while Bookbrowse does both fiction and non-fiction titles.

100logoBook News (100% Handpicked) displays handpicked lists by Mill Valley Library staff featuring books that have recently added to the library collection.
